Among the individuals nominated by President William Ruto to serve as new commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is Hassan Noor Hassan, aged 68.
A resident of Mandera County, Hassan previously served as a Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) under the Jubilee administration.
Also nominated is the current Registrar of Political Parties, Ann Njeri Nderitu, aged 53. She previously held the position of Head of Technical Training at the IEBC from 2016 to 2018.
Francis Odhiambo Aduol, aged 73, is another nominee. He served as Vice Chancellor of the Technical University of Kenya from 2013 to 2023 and currently lectures at the universityโs School of Surveying.
President Ruto also nominated Fahma Araphat Abdallah from Lamu County. At 32, she is the youngest nominee and currently serves as a member of the Lamu County Public Service Board.
Mary Serobit, aged 56, was also selected. She served as Director of the Jubilee Party from 2017 to 2021.
Lastly, Erustus Ethekon, born in 1977 and now 48 years old, was nominated to lead the IEBC. He previously served as the County Attorney in Turkana.The list of nominees will now be presented to the National Assembly for vetting
