๐ฅPeter Salasya Declares 2027 Presidential Bid, Vows to Champion Youth and Fight Corruption.
In a bold move that has stirred Kenya’s political landscape, Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has officially announced his intention to run for the presidency in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
The declaration, made in early May 2025, has been followed by an energetic nationwide campaign tour, with Salasya engaging directly with citizens across various counties.Salasya commenced his campaign in Busia and has since traversed multiple regions, including a recent stop in Malindi, Kilifi County.
Addressing enthusiastic crowds, he delivered sharp critiques of the current administration, particularly highlighting issues affecting the youth.”The government has failed the youth! Our young people remain jobless, not because they are lazy, but because of poor policies and rampant corruption!” Salasya uttered.
He accused the government of marginalizing the youth and fostering an economy that excludes them from opportunities. Salasya attributed this to systemic corruption, mismanagement and inadequate governance which he believes have jeopardized the future of Kenya’s largest demographic.
Salasya has not shied away from confronting senior politicians, alleging that some are already attempting to undermine his presidential ambitions.”They fear change. But I will not back down. I stand for a new Kenya โ free from corruption, tribalism, religious divisions and economic manipulation.” The MP stated.
He has also expressed his commitment to ensuring that all Kenyans benefit from the country’s natural resources. Salasya criticized the current state of affairs, noting that Kenya could have become a major exporter of steel due to its abundant iron ore deposits.
However, despite these resources, the prices of steel have doubled, making it difficult to support government initiatives like the affordable housing program.
Calling on the youth to take responsibility, Salasya urged them to register and vote in large numbers, emphasizing that their power at the ballot is the only way to bring real change. With his message resonating strongly among young voters, Peter Salasya’s campaign is gaining attention. Whether it will translate into national momentum remains to be seen. But one thing is clear โ he’s not holding back.
