In a pivotal moment for Meru University,Wangila Wabomba, former Chairman of the Meru University Students’ Association ( SAMU), has been elected as the new Chairman of the Meru University Alumni Association.
The election, held during the Alumni Annual General Meeting at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development in Nairobi, was presided over by Ambassador Dr. Muthaura,signaling the importance of this leadership transition.Wangila now assumes the role from his predecessor, Prof. Kimathi, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the alumni community.
Wangilaโs election represents more than a simple leadership handoverโit is a historic milestone that underscores the growing influence of young leaders in academic governance.

His appointment makes him one of the youngest individuals to chair the alumni association, a testament to his leadership abilities and commitment to the universityโs progress.
Notably, Wangilaโs previous tenure as student council chairman was marked by intense leadership battles. His era was one of turbulence and reform, ultimately culminating in the unprecedented dismissal of former Vice Chancellor Prof. Magambo.
