Chaos unfolds at Kinyenya village church service in Borabu constituency as invited politicians clash during fundraiser.
Members of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), spearheaded by South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro, and their rivals from the Azimio faction almost engaged in physical confrontation at the Makonde Pentecostal Assemblies of God.
MP Japheth Nyakundi from Kitutu Chache North voiced his disapproval of confrontation, prompting police intervention with teargas to restore order, following the repeated occurrence of the incident in front of church leaders. Nyakundi further expressed that attending church with violence and noise preventing them from hearing the word of God. “We cannot be blessed if we come to church and bring violence and noise. We cannot even hear the word of the Lord, “he said.
Tension heightened following allegations by Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi, who claimed that the Kenya Kwanza administration was failing in its administration. The atmosphere grew charged as Kibagendi’s remarks added fuel to the already fuel to the already simmering discontent within the political landscape. The allegation served as catalyst amplifying existing grievances and igniting a fierce debate over the state of governance in the region.
The religious leaders voiced frustration with the politician’s actions, urging them to demonstrate respect for God. They made it clear that the officials were invited to participate in the initiative, stressing that those unwilling to show support should leave the premises. The clergy words carried a weight of solemnity as he emphasized the importance of approaching their deity with utmost reverence when summoned to extend aid.
They stressed the significance of adhering to prescribed rituals in worship, underscoring the need for precision and respect. The leaders then turned to the matter of collecting donations, particularly monetary ones, highlighting the opportunity for congregants to contribute. However, the pastor assured that those unwilling to contribute financially need not to worry, as they were free to retain their funds. The pastor reiterated their belief in the abundance of their deity, reassuring the congregation of their benevolence and generosity.
“You must approach our God with great care when called to offer assistance. Show reverence towards our God as we have specific ways of worship. We are going to collect monetary donations. If you are unwilling to contribute financially, there’s no need to be concern, you are free to keep your money. Our God is a God of abundance, “said one of the clergy.
