The Linda Mwananchi Movement heads to Kisii County after holding its most recent rally in Thika, Kiambu County, amid growing accusations of betrayal within its leadership. The internal wrangles have intensified following remarks by Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, who has maintained that the movement should not enter into political alliances with other leaders to form the next government ahead of the 2027 General Election.
His position has, however, been opposed by several leaders within the movement.Embakasi East MP Babu Owino urged Amisi to refrain from discussing the coalition’s internal affairs in public, instead calling on him to raise his concerns through the movement’s leadership structures for resolution.Amisi, in response, expressed frustration over what he described as attempts to portray him as a traitor within the movement. He dismissed claims that he was secretly working with President William Ruto to undermine the coalition, insisting the allegations were false and politically motivated.” I have taken note of the unfortunate remarks and propaganda being circulated suggesting that I am engaged in conversations or political arrangements with the William Ruto regime.

These allegations are false, reckless, and intended to sow division within those who seek genuine change in Kenya.” MP Caleb Amisi – on his Facebook page The Kisii rally will also mark the first public appearance by Edwin Sifuna at a Linda Mwananchi event since ODM resolved to remove him as the party’s Secretary-General. His participation comes amid calls from sections of the opposition urging him to distance himself from ODM and fully align with the emerging opposition coalition. The developments come as opposition leaders continue high-level consultations aimed at identifying a single presidential flag bearer for the 2027 elections, with some leaders appealing to Sifuna and his allies to formally join the broader opposition alliance.
Among the notable figures expected to associate with the Linda Mwananchi movement in Kisii is former Chief Justice David Maraga, while Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata recently joined the movement during its Thika meeting.Meanwhile, leaders allied to the government from Kisii County have been cautioned against any alleged attempts to disrupt the rally by using hired goons, as organizers call for a peaceful political gathering.
