FELIX WANJALA.
Speaking during a fundraising event to support the funeral expenses of the late Laban Musungu — an uncle to Tandao TV’s Director, Robert Wanyonyi — in Baraki village, Kabuchai Constituency, Bungoma County, Senator Wafula Wakoli expressed his support for the ongoing efforts by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to clamp down on corruption.
He urged former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati to refrain from dragging National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula into his current legal troubles related to corruption allegations, and instead allow the EACC space to carry out its investigations independently.
However, remarks from leaders critical of Wangamati did not sit well with some residents, who claimed the former governor is being unfairly targeted for political reasons.
Meanwhile, Senator Wakoli expressed confidence that the Ford Kenya party would emerge victorious in the upcoming by-election in Chwele Ward, Kabuchai Constituency.
Senator Wafula Wakoli struck a balance between honoring the memory of the deceased, and addressing pressing political matters. While reaffirming his commitment to the fight against corruption , the senator also called for unity among leaders.
