The situation in the Kapindasum area of Baringo south constituency continued to be tense Wednesday even as Kenya Defence Forces troops took a lead role in patrolling the area, following Tuesday’s ambush of a GSU camp by armed bandits who laid a siege on a GSU camp for more than 7 hours.
Even before the dask settled on a daring day time bandit attack against security forces in BARINGO County where GSU camp and Kapindasum primary school were held under siege for more than seven hours.
Members of parliament led by Gabriel Tongoyo,the chair of parliament Committee and national security visited the area on a fact finding mission and here they folded police service leadership for down playing close to seven hour gun battle.
The leaders asking the director of criminal investigations to investigate the intention of a section of leaders in the area ,said to have been flying in the prohibited zone,accusing them of supplying arms to bandits.The parliamentary security chair person describing the siege by the bandits as a terror attack.
The leaders questioning how an operation area with so many security assets and personnel could be subjected to hours of a siege by bandits in broad day light with no single bandit neutralize .A report on Tuesday’s battle damage assessment is yet to be made public.
