Unique challenges and advantages that private and public schools face at Mt.Kenya were unravelled. This sheds light on their academic journey and also their future prospects.
The government through the ministry of education, rolled out the junior secondary school countrywide two years ago. In a bid to realise a competence best curriculum has so far had its challenges like employment and deployment of teachers in junior secondary school.

While public school struggles with full realisation of fees. Things seems to be flowing swiftly in private schools. At Gakanga primary in junior secondary, there are two streams for grade 7 and 8 but only 3 teachers. This makes it difficult to execute their mandate. A teacher is only supposed to teach two subjects. In some some instances teachers teaches subjects that they have not trained for.
On the contrary to that, Nyeri Good Shepherd academy shows a different picture. The school has all the structures needed for learning in JSS, adequate teachers and also enough resources that facilitates learning.
The stakeholders are still pushing the government to deal with the challenges that have been raised including; employing all JSS teachers on permanent and pensionable terms.
