The school compound at Mogusii Secondary School in Nyamira County is devoid of activity, the classrooms are deserted with no active learning, this has been the situation for two weeks now and according to the parents here, there’s no reprieve in sight, trouble began when the parents and the community forcefully ejected the school head after the release of last year’s KCSE results, blaming him for the poor performance.
As a result, the remaining government employed teachers withdrew from the Institution citing a hostile work environment a position that KUPPET officials from Nyamira Branch agree with.
The host community has however denied responsibility of the incident lying the blame on a few individuals whom they say should be punished, the parents have criticized KUPPET for allowing their teachers to stay away saying the decision is too punitive.
The incident comes barely a month after parents from Mafuta Secondary School in Uasin Gishu and St. Gabriel Isongo Secondary school in Kakamega, parents forcefully ejected their school Heads over poor results, resulting in TSC withdrawing teachers from both Institutions.
Therefore,TSC has since redeployed teachers to Isongo following a meeting with leaders from the region who apologized over the incident.
