Members of Parliament were led by national assembly minority leader Opiyo Wandayi, saying that the health cabinet secretary has portrayed her incompetence by failing to agree with the treasury to release funds for the Doctors welfare.
KMPDU has started a 7 day strike after negotiations with the government on promotions and posting of interns failed to bare fruits.
Azimio lawmakers urged Kenyans to support the doctor’s strike expressing that Kenya kwanza’s policies will lead to the collapse of health sector in the country.
Opposition leaders warned over the doctor’s strike which they have said will lead to a health Crisis that could lead to deaths with no serious interventions being undertaken to address issues affecting KMPDU.
The ministry of health stated that deployment of current batch of doctors will require 4.9billion with each intern earning 206,000 shillings per month which it says it can not afford.
Earlier health cabinet secretary Susan Nakhumicha dismissed KMPDU’s demands as being unrealistic saying as the Ministry they are tied regarding the posting of medical interns.
