KMPDU officials has warned the council of Governors following their directives to request them to call off the strike, the council of Governors threatened to fire all the medics who will fail to resume to work, threads that was dismissed by KMPDU.
The attempt by the council of Governors to convince Doctors to resume to work failed on Wednesday after the committee of health in the council tried with no positive impact.
Doctors in kisumu at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga teaching and referral Hospital were given directives to resume work by the 27th of march 2024, following a memo to the medical officers CEO Dr Richard Lesiyampe stated that “the hospital had received a memo from the county department of health on taking a roll call of all doctors at work starting 27th march 2024.
Doctors from kisii county claimed that both national government and county government have failed to address the human resource issues dismissing threads that required them to end the ongoing strike.
Doctors have warned to hold a mega demonstrations next week for what they said thier issues be sorted.
Health workers are asking both national government and county government to hear their grievances,among them the delay post of the interns, extension of contracts for universal health coverage staffs, payment of fees for doctors of post graduate training and payment of arrears of basic salary as per the 2017 collective bargaining agreement.
