Eric Ngumbi, the spokesperson for the commission, announced that Lumula was detained this week and taken to the EACC’s regional offices in Bungoma to provide a statement.
The EACC launched an investigation following reports regarding Lumula’s unexplained wealth accumulation, which is alleged to involve millions of shillings in bribes.
The agency suspects that these funds were acquired from suppliers and contractors while he worked in the procurement department before his recent transfer.
Lumula’s financial assets are considerable, featuring a private school named West Bridge Elite School, which is valued at Ksh. 200 million. In addition, he owns several hotels, real estate properties, commercial ventures, and luxury vehicles.
