Some religious denominations in Kakamega County have taken it upon themselves to educate their followers on the importance of proper nutrition and how to prevent sudden deaths caused by non-communicable diseases, which have been on the rise in recent times.
At the Friends Church, the chief overseer of the churches, Joseph Shamalla, has been leading efforts to sensitize congregants on nutrition and good health practices. He noted that many people are suffering from health complications, particularly non-communicable diseases, as a result of poor dietary habits.

The religious leader emphasized the importance of regular physical exercise alongside maintaining a balanced diet, urging believers to be cautious about the foods they consume daily. He further encouraged Christians to take the lead in taking care of their bodies so that they can serve as positive role models to the wider society.
