The Government said 130,000 of learners expected to join form 1 this year are yet to report to Secondary schools. Data from the Ministry of Education shows that 1.2 million out of 1.4 Million who sat the 2023 KCPE have so far reported to various categories of schools.
On the other hand,Kajiado county has the lowest number of admissions at 64% followed by Narok at 72%,Isiolo then Kilifi as Bungoma County reportedly having the highest number of students who are yet to join Form one.
5,723 learners opted to join Vocational Institutions as more boys reportedly joined those institutions than girls where they joined various counties such as Kericho, Kitui, Kilifi, Migori among other counties.
For instance,there are various counties with high transition rates which includes Turkana, Samburu, Mombasa, Laikipia and Kakamega where out of 68,320 students placed in various schools in Kakamega county,67,210 have already reported.
Therefore, Education CS insisted that the Government is seeking 100% transition especially now that the KCPE 2023 class was the last ever to be done,as the country progressively transitions to Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
