The once-strong collaboration between President William Ruto’s administration and religious institutions, as witnessed in 2022, has appeared to weaken amid growing public discontent with the Kenya Kwanza government.
In light of this, President Ruto has begun efforts to restore the relationship, promising increased financial support to churches to aid in their construction and development.Speaking at the AIPCA church in Meru County, the President emphasized that the partnership between the government and the church dates back to Kenyaโs independence and remains crucial to fostering national unity.
His remarks follow a recent incident where former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was attacked by a group of unruly individuals at a church in Kasarani. The event has triggered widespread debate over the level of respect political leaders accord to places of worship.President William Ruto also emphasized the significance of a broad-based government in driving national development and achieving Universal Health Coverage during the swearing-in of new cabinet and principal secretaries at State House, Nairobi. He called on the officials to prioritize service delivery and remain focused amidst criticism and distractions.

Additionally, he commended the growing public enthusiasm and awareness of the new healthcare scheme, urging continued support for its implementation. In addition, leaders underscored the importance of peace in Nyeri County, reassuring residents of the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of all citizens.
