ODM party leader Raila Odinga—speaking at the 42nd Annual Conference of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya in Mombasa, called on the government to urgently address the rising cost of living, which continues to burden many Kenyans.
He reaffirmed his position that the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) should be transferred from Members of Parliament to county governments, to enhance devolved service delivery.
This comes amid ongoing public participation forums led by MPs across various constituencies, gauging citizens’ views on whether the funds should be managed by governors.
Odinga proposed that the Roads Maintenance Levy be reverted to county governments to support localized infrastructure development. He emphasized the need for accountability, insisting that governors found guilty of corruption must face the full force of the law.
