Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has unveiled a training program aimed at helping boda boda operators acquire legal driving licenses within the next three months. The initiative, supported by 50 vehicles, seeks to enhance road safety, professionalism, and economic stability in the constituency.
Speaking during the launch, Salasya described the program as a bold step toward empowering young people and reducing road accidents. He commended the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) for its positive impact on citizens and cautioned leaders against politicizing its use. The legislator also criticized the Social Health Authority healthcare system, arguing that many Kenyans continue to face challenges in hospitals despite reforms.
The training program is expected to ease tensions between riders and law enforcement officers while positioning Mumias East as a model constituency for organized and professional boda boda operations.
