Tensions are running high in Kakamega after Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda accused Governor Fernandez Barasa of fueling unrest during President William Ruto’s development tour in Western Kenya.Muhanda alleged that the governor has been mobilizing groups of youths whom she described as “goons” to infiltrate and disrupt public rallies, including those attended by the Head of State.
Her remarks came after one of the president’s gatherings reportedly descended into chaos, leaving several people injured and sparking panic among residents who had turned out in large numbers to hear about new projects.

Speaking passionately, Muhanda criticized Barasa’s leadership, saying it has failed to meet the expectations of Kakamega residents. She vowed to challenge him politically, expressing confidence that she could unseat him in the next general election.
