Believers and Kenyans alike have been called upon to uphold unity, foster love for one another, and embrace humanity as the nation approaches the upcoming General Election. This important message was conveyed by Father Vincent Mukokho during the funeral service for the late Josephine Anyolo Mutswenje, held at Imbiakalo Village in Malava Constituency, Kakamega County.
Father Mukokho, who spoke on behalf of the Bishop of the diocese, emphasized the need for Kenyans to remain united despite their political, ethnic, and social differences. He underscored that peaceful coexistence is vital for the nation’s development.
His remarks resonated with the gathering of Catholic believers from various parishes in Kenya and Uganda, who came together to pay their final respects to the departed. Josephine Anyolo Mutswenje, who passed away at the age of 79, was the mother of Father Ernest Akhonya from the Archdiocese of Mbarara in Uganda and the grandmother of Father Kevin Burudi Nashiali of Amukura Parish in the Catholic Diocese of Bungoma.
In their heartfelt tributes, the two clerics celebrated the deceased as a devoted parent and caregiver, one who instilled Christian values and promoted family unity throughout her life. The burial ceremony was attended by church leaders, relatives, friends, and faithful from various regions, all gathered to honor the remarkable life of Josephine Anyolo Mutswenje.
