As Kenya gears up for the 2027 General Election, leaders from the Mulembe nation in Western Kenya are advocating for the region to secure the Deputy President role. They emphasize that Western Kenya's political influence and voter base deserve higher representation in government.
At a recent meeting, leaders including Nabii Nabwera and Wilber Ottichilo highlighted the need for unity among the various political factions in the region. They argue that despite their significant contribution to the economy, Western Kenya has historically faced underrepresentation in key government roles.

The push for the Deputy President position aims to enhance the region’s bargaining power and development priorities. However, achieving internal unity remains a challenge, as the region has often been divided among parties like ODM and ANC.
This movement mirrors a wider trend of regions negotiating for strategic positions ahead of the elections. Mulembe leaders are determined to influence Kenya’s political landscape and ensure their community plays a central role in governance.
