The Orange Democratic Movement has declared that any negotiations to form a political alliance with the ruling United Democratic Alliance must be based on equal sharing of leadership positions.
ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga made the statement during a rally in Dandora, Embakasi North Constituency, stressing that the party will not accept anything less than a 50-50 arrangement in government. Her remarks come at a time when Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has been urging leaders from smaller parties within the Kenya Kwanza coalition to dissolve their outfits and join UDA.
In an interview with Tandao Television,Mudavadi described ODM’s position as part of internal democratic processes within the party.ODM has also renewed calls for the government to implement the NADCO report, which outlines a ten-point agenda including compensation for victims of recent protests.
The party emphasized that this was a key objective championed by the late Raila Odinga. Separately, ODM Deputy Party Leader Godfrey Osotsi expressed skepticism about the coalition talks, arguing that they lack a solid foundation and may not deliver meaningful outcomes. The developments highlight growing tensions within the political landscape as parties weigh their positions ahead of future alliances and national elections.
