Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa and his deputy Ayub Savula have called on former President Uhuru Kenyatta to give President William Ruto the political space to implement his manifesto for the benefit of Kenyans.
The two leaders made the remarks at Mukuyu grounds in Lugari constituency during the funeral of Edith Onzere, the National Chairperson of the Agricultural Society of Kenya. They noted that while in office, Kenyatta did not succeed in securing the election of Raila Odinga as Kenya’s fifth president in 2022. Governor Barasa argued that Uhuru’s current efforts to rally support for Kalonzo Musyoka’s 2027 presidential bid lack a strong political foundation, pointing out that both Uhuru and Kalonzo are currently outside government.
Deputy Governor Savula echoed the sentiments, stressing that the country needs political stability to allow the government to deliver on its promises. The leaders emphasized that giving President Ruto room to fulfill his agenda would help address pressing challenges facing Kenyans and strengthen national unity.
